Michael Cumming, M.D.

Michael Cumming M.D., F.R.C.P.C., M.B.A., is a board certified vascular and interventional radiologist at Center for Diagnostic Imaging (CDI) and the director of CDI Vascular Care. His clinical interests are diverse and include peripheral arterial disease, venous access, dialysis maintenance, uterine fibroid embolization, pelvic venous congestion and lower extremity venous disease.

Prior to joining CDI, Dr. Cumming served as an Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of Minnesota. During that time Dr. Cumming worked at Fairview University Medical Center, Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and most recently at Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC). At HCMC, Dr. Cumming was actively involved in developing the interventional radiology service line including a busy outpatient clinical service and free-standing vein center.

Dr. Cumming is now an Endovascular specialist at CDI Vascular where he continues to excel as a leader and innovator in delivering personalized, cost effective, and high-quality care to his patients. He is widely recognized as an expert in limb preservation.  He plays a leading role in the treatment of critical limb ischemia and minimally invasive limb salvage for Minnesota and the surrounding states.   In our unique outpatient vascular center, Dr. Cumming has the ideal environment to dedicate the time, resources and focus required to provide the most advanced and cutting edge therapies. 

He is actively involved in the local medical community and currently serves on the Minnesota Medical Association Health Care Access, Finance and Delivery Committee. Dr. Cumming is consistently recognized as both a caring and highly skilled interventionalist and is highly regarded by his patients.

Director, Representing Interventional Radiologists. Outpatient Endovascular and Interventional Society (OEIS). With this appointment, Dr. Cumming oversees membership activity and serves on the Board of Directors. OEIS, was formed in October of 2013 for outpatient and office-based endovascular procedures. The society represents the unique needs and promote the attributes of outpatient interventional suites. Among the many goals of OEIS are to enhance the safety, quality, and efficacy of outpatient and office-based interventional procedures.



Dr. Cumming enjoys spending time at the cabin, windsurfing, yoga and biking.
