When Can my Child Return to Sports after a Concussion?

You spend your evenings and weekends cheering your child on from the sidelines or the bleachers, but what do you do when they get hurt? Concussion legislation in all 50 states has raised awareness about the dangers of head injuries for young athletes. But many questions remain about making the decision to put your child back in the game after a recovery period. We talked to Hannah Sipe and her mom Susan, who have lived through the impact of multiple concussions and are now advocates for other families dealing with brain injuries. Executive Director David King of the Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance also shares his insight on the question of returning to play after working with many parents who’ve searched for answers. And CDI’s Dr. Blake Johnson talks about the things you need to know before you decide if it’s time to let your child return to sports.
