What Questions Should I Ask When Choosing An Imaging Provider?

At St. Luke's Center for Diagnostic Imaging (CDI) in Missouri, we understand that you have a choice in imaging centers which is why we go to great lengths to ensure that quality and safety are at the forefront of our service. Expand the section below to learn the questions you should ask when choosing your provider.

At St. Luke's CDI you can rest assured that you will receive a high-quality imaging exam from a qualified provider. If you are researching other imaging providers you can compare them to our service by asking the imaging provider the following questions:

  • Does your center offer Patient Advocates to provide me with an estimate of the out-of-pocket costs and to help me with any pre-authorizations needed from my insurance company?
  • Do you have advanced technology, such as a High-field MRI (1.5T Short MRI or a .7T Open MRI) or a Multi-slice CT?
  • What steps do you take to ensure my safety if a CT scan is required to guide my care?
  • Is your imaging center accredited for safety and accuracy by the American College of Radiology and The Joint Commission?
  • Will a radiologist who is fellowship-trained and specialized in the appropriate area for my exam, such as neuro, spine, musculoskeletal, body and breast, review my images?
  • Do your radiologists participate in a peer review or a mentoring program that helps enhance clinical accuracy and expertise?
  • Are your technologists certified through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (a national accreditation body) on the equipment that they operate?
  • Are your radiologists on-site if I need medicine during my exam to ensure my safety?
  • Are my results delivered same-day to my referring doctor?
  • Do you offer flexible payment plans if the service isn’t covered by my insurance?
  • Do I have access to a full continuum of diagnostic services (sometimes patients may need additional services)?
