Central Maine Imaging Center Offers Digital Mammogram Services

With extensive training in breast imaging, our radiologists are experts in Mammography and Breast MRI.

An annual screening mammogram is recommended for women beginning at age of 40, according to the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Society of Breast Imaging (SBI). The American Cancer Society also recommends that women have the choice to begin mammography screening at age 40. For the complete, updated ACS guidelines, click here

Mammograms are still the best defense for finding cancers at their smallest and earliest, most treatable stages.

The American Cancer Society recommends the following guidelines for early detection:

  • Yearly mammograms beginning at age 40
  • Clinical breast exam every three years for women in their 20s and 30s and yearly for women 40+
  • Breast MRI (in addition to mammography) for women with certain family history or genetic tendency

For women at high risk based on certain risk factors, including a strong family history of breast cancer or BRCA1 or BRAC2 gene mutations, a Mammogram and Breast MRI are recommended every year. Women at moderately increased risk should talk to their provider about the benefits of adding a Breast MRI to their yearly Mammogram.

When you choose CMIC for your Mammogram or Breast MRI, you are selecting quality imaging services at a price that is less than hospital-affiliated imaging providers.

With convenient early morning and evening appointments, we are here for you when you need us.

"I was called the day after my visit and told of an abnormality. I was brought back in quickly, had the repeat procedure, and it was read while I was there! That is amazing!"
