There are two scenarios that can lead you to a breast biopsy. Either you go in for a routine screening mammogram and the radiologist finds something in your scan or you (or maybe your doctor) notice a lump in your breast. Either way, the next step is to get more information.

Most women feel understandably scared when they think about a needle going into their breast, says Dawn Regner, MD, a breast radiologist.
