Teaming Up With The Breast Diagnostic Center To Offer Patients High-quality Breast MRI Services

Seattle, WA – January 29, 2015 – RAYUS Radiology (RAYUS) announces today, they are partnering with radiologists specialized in breast imaging to launch their new Breast MRI service line at their Federal Way and Lakewood, WA centers.

Breast MRI is predominantly used for the evaluation of patients with newly diagnosed breast cancer, or for screening high-risk women as an adjunct to mammography and ultrasound. Due to the MRI’s powerful magnet, Breast MRI can be used as a diagnostic tool to detect cancers that are too small to be seen with other imaging technologies, when they are most treatable. The American Cancer Society offers guidelines for Breast MRI screening and diagnostic exams*. Learn more on the ACS website.

The Breast Diagnostic Center’s doctors, Michael J. Ulissey, M.D. and J. Timothy Blackwelder, M.D., will provide professional services for RAYUS’s Breast MRI program. Both doctors are board certified in diagnostic radiology and subspecialized in breast imaging, breast cancer and early detection.

“A true cornerstone of RAYUS, nationally as well as here in the Seattle area, is the belief that subspecialized radiologists provide superior patient care,” states Steven Pollei, M.D., Medical Director and Neuroradiologist at RAYUS. “Focusing on a specific area, allows us to see more than a generalist who looks at head-to-toe images throughout their day. We believe this subspecialization leads to more accurate diagnoses for our patients. Partnering with Drs. Ulissey and Blackwelder is in clear alignment with this commitment to quality.”

Kim Suggett, Director of Operations at RAYUS, adds, “Through this partnership, RAYUS is able to offer patients exceptionally high-quality care from the comfort of our outpatient setting. Patients in need of a Breast MRI are often concerned about the exam itself as well as the results. When they come to RAYUS, we can take some of those fears away – they don’t have to navigate a hospital system, they can park outside our front door, and our MRI is a High-field, Wide-bore scanner that offers more space than a traditional scanner.  This translates to more comfort and less claustrophobia.” Ms. Suggett continues, “Beyond all of that, patients can expect very competitive prices from RAYUS, with our rates averaging 30-50% below hospital rates, and no hospital facility fees attached.”

Breast MRI services are now available at RAYUS – Federal Way, located at 33801 First Way South, Suite 101, Federal Way, WA 98003 and RAYUS – Lakewood, located at 7308 Bridgeport Way West, Suite 101, Lakewood, WA 98499. To schedule an appointment, call 855-643-7226. A physician’s order is required.
