Experience Open MRI at CDI

Claustrophobic or simply concerned? We’ll help you through it.

Center for Diagnostic Imaging (CDI) provides high-quality MRI diagnostic services and patient-centered care in a comfortable, outpatient setting. CDI is the only imaging provider in Minnesota that offers the most advanced options in Open MRI giving patients a calmer, more relaxed MRI experience.

An Open MRI scanner is a great option for patients who are claustrophobic or whose size prevents them from being evaluated in a traditional MRI scanner.

Working with you and your provider, we'll help determine which of our MRI scanners is the best for your unique needs.

A High-field Open MRI scanner has no enclosure around your body creating a truly open experience. It is a great option for patients who are claustrophobic or whose size prevents them from being evaluated in a traditional MRI scanner.

  • Accommodates patients up to 660 lbs.
  • You can bring a friend or family member to sit with you during the exam (as long as they are MRI safe).
  • CDI's High-field Open MRI scanner can be twice as fast as a traditional low-field scanner with higher quality pictures.

An Open Upright MRI scanner is a great option for patients who are claustrophobic, cannot lie down due to pain or whose size prevents them from being evaluated in a traditional MRI scanner.

  • Nothing in front of your face during the scan
  • Depending on the body part being evaluated and the pain you are experiencing, you may be asked to sit or lie down.
  • Patients can listen to music or may be able to watch T.V., depending on what body part is being scanned.
  • You can bring a friend or family member to sit with you during the exam (as long as they are MRI safe).
